Q: A: First of all, there are two tabs on the Print window: General and Options. You won't need the Options tab very often, so let's just focus on the General tab. At the very top, you'll see the Select Printer section. If you only have one printer installed on your computer, you don't need to worry about this part, but if you happen to have more than one, you just need to click on the printer you want to use. Perhaps you use a specific printer for certain documents. In that case, just find the printer in the list and click on it. Under that, you'll see the status of your printer (Online or Offline), the location of it on your computer and any comments there may be about it. You can then click on the Preferences button to change your settings for print quality, paper type, paper size, orientation, effects, color, etc. Most of those settings were put in place when you first installed your printer, so you don't really need to worry about them, unless you need your project printed out in a very specific way. Also, if you're having trouble finding the printer you want to use, you can click on the Find Printer button and search for it. Again, you won't normally have to pay much attention to the Select Printer section, but there's some information for you just in case you do. Next, you'll see the Page Range section. If you want all of the pages in your document to be printed, select All. If you only want a certain section printed, highlight it first and then choose Selection. Or, you can hit the Current Page option if you only want one page to print. Lastly, you can select the Pages option and type in the page numbers you want printed. For example, if you only want page two to print, type in 2. If you want pages one through nine to print, type in 1-9. It's very easy to specify exactly what you want printed out! Need more than one copy of your document? Then use the arrows next to Number of copies: to enter in how many you need. You can print as many copies as you'd like; there's no limit. You can also collate your copies by checkmarking the Collate box. That's all there is to it! Choose Your Task Pane Do you use and like the Task Pane found in MS Office XP and 2003? Do you ever find yourself unsure about which features of the program have a Task Pane? For example, you're working and it's doing a nice job of switching at appropriate times to help you with different features. That's all good and well, but when you, let's say, go to the Insert menu, Picture submenu, Clip Art choice, the result is a switch in the Task Pane. Wouldn't it be faster to be able to access and switch the Task Pane directly? I agree! So, you're looking for the list of options that the Task Pane can help you with. No problem. It's been right in front of your eyes the whole time. Take a look at the title bar on the Task Pane. See the down arrow? If you click on that arrow, you'll see a list of available options. Select one from the list and in an instant, you're looking at the Task Pane for the feature you need. There are no round about ways through menus and submenus. SHOUTcast If you’re a radio fanatic or even just a fan, you’re going to love SHOUTcast! SHOUTcast allows you to listen to any radio station found on the Internet. If that sounds good to you, here’s how you can get it! Getting Winamp For starters, you’re going to need the Winamp Media Player. To get Winamp, head on over to http://www.winamp.com and click on the Free Download button. Then click Run (or Save if you’re using Firefox) and install it.
I recommend unchecking the boxes for the additional features you can get, such as the Winamp toolbar. I don't know about you, but the last thing I need is another toolbar!
Now, just sit back, relax and allow the program to install.
Once Winamp is installed, head over to http://www.shoutcast.com and choose a radio station you would like to listen to. For example, let’s try NPR (National Public Radio). Of course, NPR transmits from many different places, so for now, let’s just stick with the non-localized version.
Next to the radio station, click on Tune In. If your computer starts playing the station, you’re good to go. On the other hand, if yours opens something else, here’s what you can do: 1.) Right click on Tune In. 2.) Choose Properties. 3.) Highlight the link’s address and copy it (Ctrl + C).
4.) Now, open Winamp and click on Add, Add URL.
5.) Press Ctrl + V to paste the link you copied from the SHOUTcast Web site. 6.) Click Open and you’re done. You can also use SHOUTcast to pick up independent radio or stations from another part of the world. Isn’t technology amazing? Dusting Off Your Photos
It's sometimes normal to end up with bad spots on your photos because of dust that collected on your camera’s sensor. Luckily, you can use Photoshop Lightroom to remove those dust spots and make your photos look like new. It's very quick and easy, so let's get right to it! Just follow the tips below to clean up your photos: 1.) First, you need to pick your picture. The worse the picture is, the better the procedure will go. 2.) Open Photoshop Lightroom and highlight Develop Module. Use the Remove Spots tool right below your photograph and select Heal. Once that tool is activated, point it to the dust spot on your picture and left click. Photoshop Lightroom will then make that the default "heal spot" location that you can apply to any photo that has a dust spot in the same place. If you want to tweak the location a bit, you can drag the circle around until you find the best healing spot. You can then repeat the same procedure for any other dust spots visible on your images. 3.) Once all the spots have been selected and healed, you’re ready to apply the changes to any other photos you have. Even while selecting the edited image, you can highlight the other images you want to correct with the slider bar at the bottom. While holding down the Ctrl key, you can select individual images. Once you’ve selected all the images you want to clean up, you can click on Develop and then Sync Settings. 4.) Go to the Synchronize Settings screen and check the box that says Dust Removal. Then click on Synchronize. Depending on the number of images, dust spots and the speed of your computer, Photoshop Lightroom will take anywhere between a few minutes to an hour to erase all the marks. 5.) Even though the automatic healing spot is located in every picture, you have room to change the location for each individual image. All you need to do is select the Remove Spots tool as you click through every image. Once you do that, you're given the option of moving the heal location at will. That means, you don’t need to create a new healing spot. You only need to adjust its location for every individual image. Happy dusting! ~ Zahid H. I know I have brought you Web sites before where abbreviations are defined. But this one is quite different! Not only does it give you the ability to search abbreviations (and acronyms) for businesses and organizations internationally, but it also connects you to a Web page if one exists. For example, if you do a quick search for AAA, you'll get 11 matches for it. Some of those are: Amateur Athletics Association (of England) Each entry defines what the letters stand for and it provides you with a link to their Web site. For example, the American Automobile Association is www.aaa.com. If you click on Advanced Search at the top of the page, you'll see even more search options, like Reverse Search, Advanced Search and Quick Search. Reverse Search – This lets you type in the words you’re looking for an acronym or abbreviation for. Using AAA again as an example, you could type in American Automobile and you’d get three results: one for AAA, one for NVSAAC and one for SAAC. Advanced Search – This is where the Quick Search needs the exact abbreviation or acronym. It will search for the letters you type in. So, if you type in AA, you'll get SAAC. If the abbreviation or acronym you're looking for isn't there, click on the Submit New Abbreviation link near the top of the page. That will give you a form to fill out and submit.
