XP Sizes As you may recall, a couple days ago, I ran a tip in the newsletter about changing the font size in Windows Vista (you can read that tip here). Well, ever since, several of you have been asking if there's a way to do the same thing in Windows XP. I wasn't sure off the top of my head, but I figured there had to be, so I made a note to myself to check on it. But before I had a chance to look, one of our loyal readers e-mailed me with the answer. So, today's quick tip is coming to you thanks to Mr. Dick Furst. Let's check it out! If you want to increase (or even decrease) the size of the objects on your computer, in Windows XP, go to Start, Control Panel (make sure you're in the classic view) and double click on the Display icon. Next, click on the Settings tab and then hit the Advanced button. Under the General tab, you can select which DPI setting you prefer. You can choose from Normal size, Large size or you can even make a Custom size just for you. Once you choose your setting, you will be prompted to restart your computer. When it boots back up, you will be able to notice the size difference of the objects on your computer. Now, if you also want to change your font size, go back to Start, Control Panel and click on the Display icon again. From there, click on the Appearance tab and then use the Font size drop down box to choose between Normal, Large or Extra Large. Then just hit OK and you'll be all set. Your XP computer is now set up just the way you want it. Yes! ~ Erin Here's a huge happy, happy Friday to you all! Make sure you keep reading to learn all about the Opera Web browser Speed Dial feature, find out how you can customize your favorite links in various MS Office 2007 programs and learn how you can make your Google Reader experience even better with the Better GReader extension. Also, be sure to check out the Friday Funnies for your daily laugh and as always, don't miss Amanda's Cool Site of the Day. Enjoy and have a fabulous weekend, everyone! : )

The items below went over so well yesterday, we're giving you another shot at 'em! When we have hundreds and hundreds of orders before lunch, we KNOW we gotta give it another day! Check these out - prices are ONLY guaranteed today, 06-27-2008! The Best Backup Program EVER! Makes Keeping Your Computer Backed Up SIMPLE! Incredibly Easy To Use! Automatically Takes Care Of Everything! Back up your computer now with PC Backup! It is just flying out of stock!! Don't be wishing you had this later!!! ORDER NOW, before that price jumps!!!! Ya know, we hear it from people all the time, "I'm so upset - my computer crashed and I lost all of my stuff! My photos are gone! My work documents are history! Everything is trashed - I wish I would have backed up!" Here in the digital age, backing up isn't just important - it's absolutely CRITICAL! Truth is, most of us just don't do it enough - And sadly, I include myself in that category. It's just such a hassle to remember to backup, ya know? Well, I found a gem of a little program for you! It's called PC Backup and you're absolutely gonna LOVE this! It makes backing up effortless! Really! Just set it up and let it work in the background! How's it work? Couldn't be easier! Just tell it what files or folders you want to backup. For most people, just having it backup your My Documents folder is probably all you need, but you can add whatever you like! Keep just one file backed up, keep selected files backed up, or keep every file on your system backed up! It's easy, only takes a minute! Next, tell it where to backup to. I personally use an external hard drive, but a large memory card, flash drive, or even a separate internal hard drive will work. All depends on how much data you have to backup. Finally, have it do the first backup. That's it! You're already an expert! Nothin' to it!
Oh, and talk about automatic backups! WOW! THAT'S the reason I LOVE this software! For your future backups, you can have it set to run when Windows starts and then run an automatic backup every so often. I have mine set for every hour, but you can have it do backups every minute, every 3 hours, once a day, once a week - Whatever! Yeah, yeah, I know what you're thinking- Having it backup all the time would make the poor computer work constantly, but it doesn't! Why? This can do Incremental Backups! That means that when it goes to do a backup, it ONLY backs up new or changed files! Saves IMMENSE amounts of time! My favorite feature!!!!! Here's an example! Say you have 100 files in a folder and between backups you change one file and add another. Rather than recopying ALL the files,it simply adds the new file and updates the changed one - two files written, 99 left alone! Smart eh? Instead of several minutes (or hours, depending on your file sizes / numbers), this is done in seconds! See why I love this one? PLUS this backups up the full files - it doesn't "hide" them in some kind of weird compressed archive that you HAVE to use the program to open - all your files are completely usable AS THEY ARE in your backup location! Why is this important? Think about this - What happens if your computer crashes and you can't find the disk for your backup software to reinstall it?? With software that uses a special only-works-with-our-backup-software kind of file, you MUST use that backup software to retrieve your files! Yikes! With this, you'll still have your files - all 100% usable and ready to go! I tell ya, this is the way backup programs SHOULD be! Easy to use, working in the background, and not taking up any resources! PERFECT! I don't know why this hasn't been done before! It's just GREAT!!!! Your cost? Just $9.97 and US shipping is FREE! Spectacular deal on what's possibly the easiest, most elegant backup solution I've come across! Take a look: http://store.worldstart.com/product.php?productid=4302 PS - It's not a matter of IF you're going to need a backup, it's WHEN (and we both know that's true!) This is an affordable, easy to use program that does the job without the hassle! Set it up once, and compute in blissful confidence that YOU are one of the few who are backing up! Isn't it worth $9.97 to make sure your files are safe? (Trust me, it will be worth 20X that amount to you if you don't backup and your data is lost !!!) This price will increase to $12.97 soon! LOWEST PRICE EVER!! WOW!!! These sold so quickly, that we have to give you one more day to order!!! I can't believe how many of these went out the door!!! Order now before they are gone!!! I can't believe the deal we got on Toshiba 2 Gig Flash Drives! And I am just so excited to share it with you! These are amazing, I never leave home without mine (Well, actually, both of mine!!)
Worried that is won't work with XP or Vista- DON'T FRET! If you have XP or Vista, setup is a breeze! Just plug it in and it's ready to go. It's so much faster and more reliable than a floppy, besides, floppy drives are a thing of the past!!! Have you noticed that most new computers don't even have a floppy drive anymore? If you are going to need to be transferring files- You definitely want to get yours hands on one of these! Plus, this is 2GB, that's a TON of space. USB Flash drives are just so much better, I can't recommend 'em enough! It really makes it so quick and easy to move files around. My only problem with most flash drives is that I am constantly misplacing the lid!!! But on the brightside this awesome flash drive is "lidless" so you don't lose the cap . The cover just slides over (while still attached) so you can easily access the USB port and then easily close it back up for storage! I'm so happy about this, I know I've ruined more than one flash drive while it was floating around in my bag without the cover ;-( And it was horrible to know that all those files were lost!!! Again, for this sale these are just $14.97 and US shipping is FREE! These are no tiny flash drives - these are 2GB!! Normally the retail price is between $30-$50!!! WOW! You better get to the site quick, because these will sell out in no time! HURRY! http://store.worldstart.com/product.php?productid=4364 PS - Get to the site and get yours ordered right away! With this great price I know they're going to go fast! Order NOW!!!
Q: A: So, tell me, do you have a lot of Web sites you visit frequently? You know, you have the same few you go to almost everyday and if you didn't, you'd be afraid you're missing out on something. Well, do you ever get tired of typing in those Web addresses every single time you visit a site? I mean, the process can get pretty repetitive and slightly annoying after awhile. And that's right when Speed Dial comes to the rescue! The Speed Dial feature allows you to save a set of your favorite Web sites that comes up as a visual bookmark area every time you open a new browser window or tab. That way, you can go up to the site you'd like to visit, give it one click and you'll be whisked away. With just one click, you ask? Yep, that's all it takes! Once you have Opera installed on your computer (the latest version is 9.5 and you can get it here), you can add a new Web site to your Speed Dial list by simply clicking on an empty Speed Dial space and typing in the site's URL. Opera will even give you suggestions based on your browsing history and the other bookmarks you have saved. It doesn't get any easier than that! So, what other news do I have about Speed Dial? Well, with version 9.5, you can now add even more Speed Dial slots to your Opera browser. You get nine of them to start out with, but if you have more than nine favorite Web sites, you're going to need more and now you can have them! That's right, you can now customize how many Speed Dial spaces you want shown at any given time. To get started, make sure you have at least one Speed Dial entry already added and then type "about:opera" into the address bar to get to the Opera Preferences area. Next, close your Opera browser (it's very important for you to do that) and then open the "speeddial.ini" file found in the Opera Preferences directory you just opened. Then just add these lines somewhere near the top of the directory: [Size] You can adjust the rows and columns to meet your needs. If you need two more Speed Dial slots, put Rows=2, Columns=2. If you need six or even 10, go ahead and type that in. When you're finished, open your Opera browser once again. Now, you will need to experiment with the rows and columns you add so that they will fit on your screen properly. Opera only allows a certain size for each Speed Dial entry, so if they don't all fit on your screen, they will just disappear and you won't be able to access them. So, you just need to play around and figure out what works the best for your screen size. Either way, when it's all said and done, you'll have more Speed Dials than you ever thought possible. And I'm sure you'll come to find out that your Opera experience just wouldn't be the same without them. Happy speed dialing, my Opera friends! ~ Erin Have a question for the newsletter? Customizing Office 2007's Favorite Links As promised, today, we're going to take a look at MS Office 2007's equivalent to yesterday's tip about the "Look in" list feature of past Office versions. To begin, you'll find a new title of "Favorite Links" in the Open or Save dialogue windows. The good news is that customizing your list is as easy as 1, 2, 3! 1.) Select the folder to be added to your list with a click and hold of the mouse button. 2.) Drag the folder into your Favorite Links list. You'll notice a horizontal black line that shows you where the folder will be located. You need to pay attention to that, because the folder will stay where you put it. 3.) Drop the folder into your desired location. That's all there is to it! But, as expected, I have a few more related tidbits for you!
Now, you have a Favorite Links list you can truly call your own! ~ April

Sadly, the world we live in is far from safe. Danger is something we have to take into account when we choose the neighborhoods we live in and the schools, parks and playgrounds we send our children to. But with Spot Crime, safety has never been easier! With this Web site, you can see what kind of crimes have been committed in your area. At this time, there's only information for the United States and London, UK, but that could all change as the site continues to grow. Start by choosing your state. From there, select your city or the city closest to you. Once you’ve done that, it will generate a map of the area. The map key is right on top of the map and you can filter the results by removing the checkmarks next to each category. The categories are: All, Arrest, Arson, Assault, Burglary, Other, Robbery, Shooting, Theft and Vandalism. You can also type in your address to get even closer results in your neighborhood. I'm really hoping that over time, as the site grows, they will add more than just major cities. I’d like to know what crimes are occurring back in my hometown where my parents live. I worry about their safety, as well as, mine. But, luckily, this Web site is a definite step in the right direction. Give it a try today! ~ Amanda Do you have a cool, non-commercial site that you want to share?

It's so easy! You really use it just like a floppy drive, but only this one is much easier!!!All you have to do is just plug it into any USB port and then locate it as a drive under "My Computer". Once you have found it, all you have to do is drag and drop files or copy and paste them onto your Flash Drive. In addition, you can create folders, delete items, and edit stuff. This really allows me to stay organized!!!
