CAPTCHA Tests Yes, CAPTCHA is rather odd sounding, but it's something we all have to deal with on our computers from time to time. Not sure what it means? Well, allow me to explain! CAPTCHA stands for Completely Automated Public Turing [test to tell] Computers and Humans Apart. It's basically a kind of response test used with computers to determine if a user is human or not. In other words, when you're on certain Web sites, have you ever had to type in a series of letters and numbers in order to continue? If so, that's a CAPTCHA test! The code is sometimes distorted or it will have a design behind it that makes it a little harder to read. They look something like this: Now, I know what you're probably thinking. Yes, CAPTCHA tests are sometimes hard to solve, but they are there for your own good. They are mainly used for security, especially on Web sites that require you to enter in your personal information. See, sometimes hackers use what are called bots to attack users. The bots are generated by computers and in reality, computers are unable to solve the CAPTCHA tests. Only humans can type in the right code and continue on, so that really helps in keeping you safe. So, while it's true that these tests can be quite a nuisance, I always feel better when I see them. I know I'm in good hands when I do. I'm sure you'll think differently about them now too! ~ Erin Don't stop now! Q: A: Open up Outlook Express and go to Tools, Options. Once you're there, click on the Maintenance tab. In that box, you can do a lot of cleaning up, so to speak, in your e-mail program.
You can choose to have all of your e-mails deleted every time you exit out of OE, you can choose to purge some of them and there are also some options in there if you use a newsgroup. If you're part of a newsgroup, you can have OE delete all of the messages you have already read or you can choose when to have them deleted. Just use the number box to pick how many days you want to wait before the messages are completely cleared out. You can go as low as zero and as high as you so choose! A couple other things you can do for maintenance is clean up any downloaded messages that might be in your system. If you want to do that, click on the Clean Up Now button. You can also change the location of your store folder, which is where your messages are stored. If you want to change that, click on the Store Folder button. To make any changes, just use the checkboxes and check it if you want it or uncheck it if you don't. It's as simple as that. Now, your e-mail is all cleaned up and ready to go. Isn't that a great feeling?! ~ Erin Have a question for the newsletter? Submit it at the link below:
Just the Comment and Nothing But the Comment Have a lot of comments in your MS Excel files? Ever find yourself entering duplicate comments as you work your way through a file? Tired of all the repetitive typing? If so, how would you like a way to copy and paste just the comment? No problem! The next time you need a comment from a cell, and nothing else, just follow these simple steps:
Voila! The comment (and only the comment) is copied to the new location. Now, I'd like to add a little extra something to this. If you know you need to copy the comment to multiple locations, after the first paste, click on the next cell that needs the comment and then hit the F4 key. The F4 key repeats the last action, so it will paste the comment into the additional locations, without the hassle of going to the Paste Special window every time. Happy commenting! ~ April

Google Experimental Are you tired of the same old and boring Google?
Oh, that just makes me yawn! Luckily, Google has been experimenting with their search engine and they want you to help them out! It’s fittingly titled Google Experimental and with it, you have access to one of the three search experiments Google is trying out. How cool is that? Let's take a look! Alternate Views 1.) Go to http://www.google.com/experimental/ and choose Join this experiment, listed under the "Alternate views for search results" section.
2.) To try it out, go back to http://www.google.com, type in "George Washington view:timeline" and see what comes up. 3.) It will show you a timeline of George Washington's life, along with a graph that shows you when the major events of his documented life occurred. How nifty!
I bet you want to try out the rest, don't you? Then let's go! Keyword Suggestions 1.) Go back to the Google Experimental homepage and click Leave where the Join this experiment option was before. Then click on the Join this experiment button, located to the right of the "Keyword suggestions" section.
2.) Now, click here and type in a word such as "WorldStart." Wait a second until you see a box that looks like this:
3.) If you like any of the options it gives you, just click on one and you'll be taken right to the real search results. Keyboard Shortcuts 1.) Go back to Google Experimental and leave your old experiment to join the next one, under the "Keyboard shortcuts" section. 2.) For this one, I’d suggest right clicking on the link labeled "rattlesnake" and then choose Open in New Window. That way, you can easily refer back to your shortcuts. 3.) Press the letter J on your keyboard and see what happens. Then press the letter K. The arrow is moving up and down. How handy is that?! 4.) Press the / (forward slash) on your keyboard and type in "WorldStart." Press Enter and then press J three times. Now, press Enter again and if you’re still following me, you should be on WorldStart's software store site! Those are just a few examples of what you can do with Google Experimental. Check it out today! ~ Brandon Zubek If you enjoy our tips, tell your friends. That's what keeps this newsletter growing.

You can either be in the classic or the category view. Well, have you ever wondered how you actually change those views? Our tips may be a little confusing if you're not sure how to do that. If you want to learn how, simply click on the link below and go from there! http://imgsrv.worldstart.com/videotips/index.htm Or, if you would just like to read today's tip, you can do that as well, here: For stories, jokes, quotes and cartoons every day, sign up for our Just for Grins newsletter.
Now that Spring has arrived in my part of the world, my mind has turned toward getting my garden planted and growing. While surfing around for planting Web sites, I found a great one called You Grow Girl! My main plan is to re-seed my yard and get some good, if not great, grass growing this year. While I dream of just laying sod, that option is too expensive, so I went on a searching spree to learn about planting grass and what types would be best for my area and lifestyle. First of all, this site has stellar forums. If you enjoy being a part of a forum community, you really should take some time and check them out here. Next is Grow, Garden, Explore, Play and Use. Grow – This is where you will learn about plants and how to care for them. There is a great article here on the varieties of basil, which happens to be my favorite herb to cook with. You will find articles on plant care information, seeds and propagation, featured plants, bulbs, tubers, corms, save your and good bugs/bad bugs. Garden – This is where you find the heart and soul of gardening, not to mention a ton of great "do it yourself" gardening tips. Here you will learn about composting, planting tips, tools and preparation. Explore – Here you will learn all about new plants. You might even find something you'll want to add to your garden! Play – This is where all the fun stuff is hiding! You'll find wallpapers, art, e-cards and much, much more. Use – Here you'll learn about uses for the herbs, vegetables and flowers you plant. Let me tell you, this section is recipes galore and I just can't wait to try the sage walnut pesto recipe! This is a great gardening Web site and I hope it keeps you coming back regularly as your garden grows! ~ Amanda Do you have a cool, non-commercial site that you want to share?
